Lake Elmo

Lake Elmo, MN is located 10 miles east of St.Paul and just southwest of Stillwater. Much of the land that is within the city limits of Lake Elmo is still farmland, which gives Lake Elmo its rural character. Lake Elmo has an area of 24.36 square miles of which 22.25 is land and 2.11 is water.

Lake Elmo Demographics

The population of Lake Elmo, MN as of the 2010 census was 8,069 people, 2,779 households and 2,252 families. Thirty-eight percent of the households had children under the age of 18 living with them and seventy-one percent were married couples. The average household size was 2.88 and the average family size was 3.21. The median age in the city was 42.4 years. Twenty-seven percent of the residents were under the age of 18; 6.3% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 20.9% were from 25 to 44; 34.6% were from 45 to 64; and 11% were 65 years of age or older. The gender of the city was 50.2% male and 49.8% female.

There are over 30 neighborhoods (subdivisions) distributed throughout the 22 square miles of land which gives Lake Elmo its open-space and rural character. Home values range from $150,000 to $1,000,000+ with a mean value of approximately $450,000. Lake Elmo Parks

Lake Elmo, MN is home to 18 parks. Two large parks and sixteen smaller, neighborhood parks offer cross-country skiing, swimming, organized sports, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, and a variety of other outdoor activities.

Washington County’s Regional Lake Elmo Park Reserve is a 2165 acre regional park. Lake Elmo Park Reserve offers:

Lake Elmo is divided into three school districts with the majority of the students residing in the Stillwater Area Public School District #834. Lake Elmo Elementary is within the city limits of Lake Elmo and is a part of the Stillwater School District.
